Yamaha R3 and MT-03: In a move that has thrilled bike lovers across the country, Yamaha has reduced the prices of its R3 and MT-03 models by Rs. 20,000. This welcome change comes as a result of India’s new GST slab for motorcycles under 350cc, where the tax rate has dropped from 28% to 18%. This reform has made mid range performance bikes significantly more affordable, and Yamaha’s offerings are now more tempting than ever.
New Prices Bring Premium Performance Within Reach

After this price cut, the Yamaha R3 now costs Rs. 3.39 lakh, while its streetfighter sibling, the MT-03 is priced at Rs. 3.30 lakh (both ex-showroom). Notably, this is the second price drop of 2025. Earlier in January, Yamaha had already slashed their prices by an impressive Rs. 1.10 lakh, making the bikes far more competitive in the market.
Same Soul, Two Distinct Characters
Both the R3 and MT-03 share a 321cc parallel twin engine, delivering a refined yet exhilarating performance. The R3 carries a sleek, race inspired design perfect for those who love the track, while the MT-03 boasts a muscular, naked look ideal for urban thrill seekers. Their shared chassis and superior balance ensure exceptional handling and comfort, making them a joy to ride in any environment.
Yamaha’s Comeback Against Strong Rivals

When these bikes first launched, their premium price tags made them less appealing compared to rivals like the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457. But with the recent price adjustment, Yamaha has repositioned itself smartly in the competitive segment. Now, both the R3 and MT-03 offer unbeatable value for riders who crave style, performance, and reliability.
The Road Ahead for Yamaha Fans
With this latest move, Yamaha seems to be listening closely to its fans and working to make high performance motorcycles more accessible in India. These new prices could very well spark a surge in sales, attracting a new generation of riders to the brand’s iconic legacy.
