A Call for Peace Before the SCO Summit

PM Modi shared that both leaders discussed the Russia Ukraine conflict, focusing on humanitarian concerns and the urgent need for restoring peace. He reassured Zelensky that India would support every genuine effort in this direction.

Zelensky Praises India’s Role in Diplomacy

Zelensky described the call as “productive and important.” He informed Modi about his talks with former US President Donald Trump and European leaders, noting a shared vision for real peace. He reiterated Ukraine’s readiness to hold talks with Russia, despite Moscow’s continued airstrikes on civilian areas.

Conflict and Humanitarian Concerns

Zelensky highlighted Russia’s unwillingness to engage in diplomacy and its repeated strikes on civilians, which have killed dozens. He thanked PM Modi for expressing condolences and praised India’s consistent call for peace before the SCO Summit.

India’s Influence and Bilateral Ties

The Ukrainian President said India is ready to send an appropriate signal to Russia and other leaders during the summit. Both leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral relations, including future visits and a Joint Intergovernmental Commission to expand cooperation.
