MG Motor Electric Revolution: When it comes to the future of driving, MG Motor is leaving no stone unturned. Once a British classic, now powered by Chinese state owned giant SAIC, the brand is preparing for its most ambitious leap yet. Over the next two years, MG Motor will roll out a total of 13 brand new electrified vehicles across the globe, investing nearly 10 billion yuan (around €1.2 billion) into building a sustainable, smarter, and cleaner mobility future.

A New Era of MG Begins

MG Motor Electric Revolution

The first step into this electrified chapter begins with the new MG4, which already opened for pre sales earlier this month. Official market launch is scheduled for August 29, setting the tone for what the company calls its new development strategy for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs).

From fully electric BEVs to PHEVs (plug in hybrids) and EREVs (range extenders), MG Motor aims to give customers not just choices, but meaningful ones that cater to diverse lifestyles and markets. CEO Chen Cui made it clear that this move is not simply about producing affordable cars but about building a powerful lineup based on advanced technology, quality engineering, and the robust supply chains of parent company SAIC.

Europe Leads, China Follows

Interestingly, MG’s revival story is more European than Chinese. The brand has already established itself as one of the most successful Chinese auto exports in Europe, selling over 153,000 units in just the first half of 2025. In China, however, the picture looks quite different, with only about 57,000 units delivered between January and July this year.

One major reason behind this gap lies in market demand. Europe has embraced MG’s electric vehicles with open arms, while in China, NEVs dominate but MG has been slow to expand its offerings. Now, with this new strategy, MG hopes to not only catch up but also set benchmarks.

Technology at the Core

MG’s ambitious EV roadmap is strengthened by SAIC’s massive technological ecosystem. The company is also working hand in hand with major partners like Audi and Huawei to bring cutting edge electric mobility solutions. The partnership with Huawei, through the Shangjie brand, as well as SAIC’s own IM Motors, are proof of a bigger vision where connected cars, solid-state batteries, and AI driven systems are no longer distant dreams but fast approaching realities.

Chen Cui highlighted that MG’s push into electrification isn’t about chasing the lowest price tag but creating vehicles that blend affordability with advanced technology, ensuring long-term relevance in global markets.

A Future Charged with Possibility

MG’s aggressive global roadmap is a signal that the EV revolution is only just beginning. With 13 new electrified models set to arrive in just two years, MG Motor is not just expanding its portfolio it’s reinventing itself for a new generation of drivers.

The road ahead looks electric, and MG seems determined to make sure it’s also unforgettable.
