This includes the tried-and-tested 1.5L K15C petrol engine producing 103bhp, as well as a 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol hybrid setup that delivers 115bhp in combination with an electric motor. On the Grand Vitara, this hybrid promises an impressive fuel economy of nearly 28 kmpl, and the same efficiency can be expected here.
The biggest surprise, however, is the inclusion of an underbody CNG kit a first for Maruti in India. This clever packaging ensures that buyers opting for the CNG variant will not have to compromise on boot space, making it even more appealing for practical minded families.

By introducing the Escudo through its Arena outlets, Maruti is clearly targeting mass-market customers with competitive pricing.
