Hollow Knight: For fans who have been diving deep into the hauntingly beautiful yet punishing world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, there’s some welcome news. Developer Team Cherry has officially rolled out details of the game’s very first post-launch patch, bringing bug fixes, balance changes, and most importantly some much needed adjustments to ease early game difficulty.

A Patch for Relief

Hollow Knight

The update, titled patch 1.0.28470, is scheduled to arrive for all players by mid next week, around September 17. However, PC players eager to get an early taste can already access it through the public beta branch on Steam or GOG.

One of the biggest talking points since Silksong’s release has been its steep difficulty curve. While critics and fans have praised its intricate design, atmosphere, and fast-paced combat, many new players have voiced frustration over punishing minibosses, long runbacks, and what some described as “artificially inflated difficulty.” In fact, early mods for the game were dominated by tools designed to make Silksong easier.

This update seems to address those concerns head on. Team Cherry has made “slight” adjustments that make some of the opening encounters more manageable, including tweaks to bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter, a reduction in damage from Sandcarvers, and adjustments to in game economy such as lowered Bellway prices and increased rosary rewards. These changes should make progression a little smoother for those struggling in the early hours.

Bug Fixes That Matter

Alongside balance tweaks, the patch is packed with bug fixes aimed at resolving frustrating issues that halted progress for some players. These include fixes to cloakless situations after the Slab escape sequence, courier deliveries becoming inaccessible, soft locks during boss fights, and issues with tools like the Lace deflect and Claw Mirrors.

The best part? All fixes will apply retroactively, meaning players stuck in certain progression-blocking bugs can jump back into their save without starting over.

What’s Next for Silksong

Hollow Knight

Team Cherry has reassured players that this is only the beginning. A second patch is already in the works to address additional issues that weren’t fully resolved this time around. “If you have an issue and you don’t see the solution in the list above, we may be working on it,” the developer wrote in their update.

With Silksong already one of the year’s most talked-about releases boasting record breaking concurrent players on Steam and widespread critical acclaim this patch should help smooth out the experience and make it more welcoming to both hardcore Hollow Knight veterans and new players stepping into Hallownest’s twisted sequel for the first time.

A Balanced Step Forward

While Silksong is still unapologetically challenging, this patch signals Team Cherry’s commitment to listening to its community and ensuring the game feels tough but fair. For many fans, this could be the adjustment needed to keep pushing forward without feeling crushed under the weight of early game roadblocks.
