Acura Recalls 2025 RDX: For many drivers, the Acura RDX is a trusted companion on the road known for its comfort, performance, and luxury SUV appeal. But in an unexpected turn, Acura has now issued a recall for the 2025 RDX after discovering a potential problem that could cause drivers to suddenly lose power steering. This recall affects 17,334 vehicles across the U.S., leaving many owners concerned about their safety and next steps.

What Went Wrong with the RDX?

According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue is linked to the SUV’s electronic power steering system. Due to faulty calibration, the system may enter a fail safe mode designed to protect the vehicle. While this mode prevents further damage, it disables power steering assistance.

This means drivers could suddenly find themselves exerting much more effort to steer, especially at low speeds or during tight maneuvers. While Acura confirmed that no injuries or fatalities have been reported, the defect has already led to 84 warranty claims, which was enough to trigger immediate action.

How the Problem Was Found

The story dates back to October 2024, when Honda Acura’s parent company first received a customer complaint. After several months of investigation, engineers discovered that the problem originated in the development of power steering software intended to meet California’s stop start system requirements. This software glitch is what makes the steering system more vulnerable to unexpected failure.

What Acura Owners Should Do Now

Acura has assured customers that they will be notified directly by mail if their SUV is part of the recall. Once contacted, owners will be asked to bring their RDX to an authorized Acura dealer, where technicians will reprogram the steering system with updated software.

The good news? The fix is expected to be relatively straightforward, and owners won’t have to pay anything out of pocket. Acura also encourages customers to check their vehicle’s recall status on the NHTSA website or Acura’s official recall page using their VIN.

Safety Comes First

Recalls like this remind us how much modern vehicles rely on complex software to function. Even a small miscalibration can lead to safety concerns, which is why manufacturers are quick to act when problems surface.
