MUHS: Healthcare in India is evolving rapidly, and so is the way we train the next generation of doctors. To strengthen primary healthcare services and encourage holistic learning, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has invited applications for its fellowship in Integrated Family Medicine for the academic year 2025 26. The deadline for online applications is September 14, 2025, giving aspiring candidates just a short window to apply.
A Fellowship Bridging Modern and Traditional Medicine

Dr. Rajendra Bangal, Registrar of MUHS, explained that the fellowship is designed to offer comprehensive, accessible, and skill based healthcare training. The program aligns closely with the National Education Policy (NEP), with a strong emphasis on multi disciplinary education and the integration of India’s traditional knowledge systems into mainstream healthcare.
This innovative course allows both Medical and Ayurveda graduates to apply, making it one of the few fellowships that truly bridges modern medicine with India’s ancient healing practices. The aim is to prepare healthcare professionals who can provide effective care in community settings by blending modern diagnosis and treatment with holistic approaches.
Training That Goes Beyond Classrooms
According to Dr. Mrunal Patil, Dean of the Maharashtra Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (MPGI), Nashik, the fellowship offers practical, experience based training. Students will gain hands on exposure across departments of both modern medicine and Ayurveda.
The one year program will be conducted at MPGI Nashik along with two affiliated Ayurvedic colleges Ayurved Seva Sangh Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Shri Saptashrungi Ayurved Mahavidyalaya.
The curriculum, divided into 15 intensive modules, will cover:
- Inpatient and outpatient care
- Emergency services
- Skill labs for advanced training
- Women’s and children’s health
- Panchakarma therapy
- Mental health, screening, and primary emergency care
By combining the precision of modern medicine with the preventive and holistic strengths of Ayurveda, this fellowship equips graduates to serve communities more effectively.
Building a Future Ready Healthcare Workforce

With the demand for family medicine specialists on the rise, MUHS’s fellowship is a timely initiative. It not only strengthens primary healthcare delivery but also empowers young doctors to treat common ailments, manage emergencies, and promote preventive health at the grassroots level.
The integration of Ayurveda also ensures that traditional wisdom continues to find relevance in today’s healthcare landscape, creating a well rounded, future ready workforce.
